On the site of an existing skatepark, Leiston was an extension project that includes an open bowl and street section. The bowl incorporates a tombstone extension and roll in roll out sections, while the street area has a stair set, hubba and double height ledge.
Working alongside the local riding community we also delivered a substantial polish to the existing concrete surface, replacing unsafe sections of the old park and retrofitting a bank to slappy curb.
The project required substantial engineering and earthwork considerations from our in-house team when making use of massing on site and dealing with site constraints of newly build heat pumps.
This elegant extension project was a great example of how to show love to worn out concrete skateparks, while also involving the locals in its design and construction, delivering a skatepark with a real sense of ownership and co-production.
