LEigh-on-Sea
essex, England
Leigh-on-Sea has a rich history within skateboarding. With notable skateparks coming and going through the years.
With help from local skateshop owner, council, local charitable donations and Betongpark the old dilapidated pre-fab skate park was re-envisioned within the space. What was built reflected the legacy of Leigh-on-Sea.
The work carried out included a massive extension to one end of the skatepark. A mixture of street and flow obstacles were combined into a hybrid plaza. Old pre-fab elements were re-purposed in new and interesting ways, from a vert wall being turned into a whippy, pool coping topped quarter, to newer china banks being blended into existing flat bank hips.
The second stage of the project was completely rebuilding the bowl, converting it from slow and mellow bowl, that was falling apart at the seams, to a fun and fast, whippy pool style bowl that sits directly inside the original bowls carcass.
