Here’s a very special one for Betongpark and the students of Folkestone Academy. The first concrete bowl in a state school in the UK. From working so closely with dozens of schools across Norway, we have wanted to deliver a similar project in a UK school for some time. We hope this project can inspire many more across the country!

With accessibility at its core, and offering fun lines to guide progression, this bowl provides something for all. In addition, an integrated street loop circles along the perimeter of the bowl. The concrete has been pigmented with an earthy red tone throughout, which really sets it apart from anything else in the schoolyard.

This is a flagship project for the UK in delivering skateboarding and wheeled sports physical activities into education spaces. Students are able to use the bowl at lunchtimes, in PE lessons, and as an extra curricular activity, outside of normal school hours. There are plans to make the facility available to the public in the future too.
